It's always cheaper by car
Not just in Germany, but it's cheaper by car in every country. It takes me two hours via two trains and two buses at a cost of around £32 for one day (less on a montly ticket, but not a lot less). If I get in my car, it's about £5 in fuel. Admittedly there is tax, mot, insurance on top, but still, it won't make up the £27 defficit.
There's a site I found, mentioned on the post, where he did an analysis and came up with an analysis. He used a renault clio 1.2 as an example and it worked out amazingly cheaper, like £5 per day for his 17 mile journey.

In todays society of eco friendly what nots, all european governments trying to get us back on the trains and buses, why is it still so expensive, not much of an encoragement!
